Sunshine on Leith
At the end of last term we welcomed families and visitors to an evening of entertainment from the Music Department – and what a performance they gave.
This year our biennial Broadway musical was Sunshine on Leith and this production more than lived up to the high reputation which the school holds for its musicals.
The story was refreshing new to many, but thoroughly enjoyed by all , and the months of planning, rehearsals, costume designing and stage production came together to produce six highly professional and entertaining performances over five days.
Around fifty thespians took to the stage and another thirty formed the production team and orchestra, drawing together students, staff and parents across the year groups and showcasing a rich variety of skills and talents.
Year 11 – Final Day
Students in Year 11 enjoyed their final day at Burford School before finishing for GCSE study leave on Friday 8 May. The day included students having the opportunity to say good bye to staff, sign shirts and reminisce before a final afternoons celebration held in the sports hall.
The afternoon’s celebrations allowed Mr Claydon to present students with their Leavers’ Hoodies and Yearbooks. He also treated them to presentations of their five years at Burford School.
Students within each form produced excellent presentations for their form groups and presented form tutors with well-deserved gifts to show their appreciation for all their hard work. There was also time for five Year 11 students to treat the year group to live music, producing two high quality performances which were enjoyed by all.
The afternoon ended with an emotional presentation of the students’ time at Burford School from Mr Claydon. This included a GCSE Music Composition from Year11 student, Sam Haig; a fitting way to end a fantastic afternoon.
Please take the opportunity to enjoy this presentation and share in the memories.
