Pastoral Care

Boarding at Burford School has an excellent reputation, built on the commitment, encouragement and care of our experienced and supportive Boarding House Team. The Team ensures a warm, inclusive and safe boarding environment in which students feel happy and at home.

Careful attention is given to the welfare, academic and social progress of each individual student. Residential duty staff members are supported by a team of non-residential staff, some of whom are teachers at our day school. This team assists in overseeing a range of boarding activities, from mealtimes and homework to evening activities and day trips.

Residential and medical staff are always on duty when students are on site and all students are registered with the local doctor so that they can be seen quickly should the need arise. All team members are trained in pastoral care and safeguarding.

A team of three Independent Listeners is also available to students, should they wish to discuss any issues or concerns with a member of staff who is not part of the boarding team.
