Charter Day Celebrations

Charter Day Celebrations

On Friday 20 November, we celebrated our 449th Birthday, an event at which we remember the founders of our school and give thanks for their generosity and foresight.  This annual occasion is traditionally marked with our Charter Day Thanksgiving Service, attended by all members of the school, and by our Upper School Prize-Giving Evening.

The Prizegiving evening is held in the Sports Hall and prize-winners and their families, as well as staff and guests, come together to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students and during the previous academic year. In keeping with the many changes to our way of life in 2020, this year we have had to celebrate these special events remotely.

We were still keen to recognise the achievements of our prize-winners and so each subject and trophy winner was sent their book token prize, along with a commemorative programme featuring the names of all winners, to arrive on Charter Day.

As a school we feel it is very important to recognise the hard work and successes of our students and, though this year’s celebrations were somewhat different from the norm, and we were sorry not to welcome back last year’s students in person to receive their prizes, we remain extremely proud of all our students’ achievements.
