The Modern Foreign Languages Department offers French, Spanish and German at all key stages.
All subjects are taught by specialist teachers, consisting of a Head of Department and subject specific teachers. Many of the staff are native speakers.
Trips abroad are run each year to help students gain an understanding of the culture of their chosen language(s). The trips encourage language development and provide opportunities for students to improve their fluency. Our current destinations are to northern France, to Seville in Spain and to Boppard in Germany. In addition, students have the opportunity to take part in language days at Oxford University and to gain an understanding of the potential application of foreign languages within the workplace.
At Key Stage 3students study two languages. All students take Spanish and each year group is then split into a French half and a German half.
Further information regarding individual subject content at Key Stage 4 is available in the Options Booklet.
