PE & Sport
PE & Sport
PE is taught throughout all key stages. Our major sports are rugby, hockey, netball and football in the winter and cricket, athletics and rounders in the summer.
We have a long history of producing athletes who go on to perform at the highest level in a wide range of sports. The school prides itself on its athletic achievements and the Burford School Athletic Foundation builds on this history, engaging students whatever their ability and potential through a selection of structured programmes that are tailored to a range of needs.
All students, whatever their skills, participate in a variety of activities establishing a firm foundation for a long and healthy life. All students are taught by a specialist team of staff and timetabled lessons are provided for sixth form students.
There is a wide variety of extra-curricular sports clubs available and matches take place both at home and away. Students in Years 10 and 12 can also take part in the Sports Leader Programme and there is also a major sports trip aboard to Australia and New Zealand and an annual ski trip.
At Key Stage 3 students have both PE and games lessons where PE focuses on individual skills and games on team sports.
