PGL Water Sports
Every other year the school organises a water sports trip to the beautiful resort of La Fosca on the northern Mediterranean coast of Spain. This trip is offered to students in Years 8 and 9 and, due to the popularity of the event, requires us to hire two coaches for the week. All water activities are organised and supervised by qualified PGL staff.
Accommodation is in tents and there is a safe sandy beach for swimming and games within walking distance. The range of activities is extensive and includes, Topper, Funboat, Pico, and Catamaran sailing, stand-up paddle boarding, sit-on kayaks and Banana Boat rides. These take place on a number of different local beaches adding variety and interest.
There are opportunities for day trips during the holiday. These include visits to the Waterpark at Loret de Mar, snorkelling at Tossa de Mar and the beautiful mediaeval town of Pals.
In the evenings, the PGL staff organise entertainment, finishing by 11.00pm to ensure a good night’s sleep before another fun-filled day. Activities include Robots Wars, talent shows and a disco.
The trip is universally enjoyed and gives students the opportunity to learn new sports, build friendship bonds and get to know those in other years on an informal basis. For some it is the first time they have been away from their family for a whole week or travelled abroad and they discover self-reliance, confidence and an enthusiasm for the wider world; all valuable qualities in their education.
