Dear Parents and Students
We are delighted with the GCSE and A-level results achieved by our students this summer and congratulate them on their hard work and achievement. We are now looking forward to yet another busy and productive term at Burford School; a term in which we welcome students for our Open Day and those considering a place in the sixth Form. On both occasions our Boarding Department will be open, so do make the most of seeing around the school and learning more about life at Burford, if you are looking for a place for your child.
Open Evening – Thursday 19 September 2019
2.30pm – 4.30pm (Boarding Department)
3.00pm – 7.30pm (Day School)
Sixth Form Open Evening – Thursday 7 November 2019
4.30pm – 6.30pm (Boarding Department)
7.00pm – 9.00pm (Sixth Form)
This is the term when we celebrate the giving of our Charter in 1571; a day when we give thanks for the foresight and vision of those who founded our school almost 450 years ago. As always the school will be filled with music, from the Year 7 Choral Competition to Star for a Night, An Evening with All that Jazz to A Christmas Miscellany. The Community Choir will once again be in session preparing a piece for us all to enjoy in early spring and rehearsals are already booked in for our next drama production. I do hope you will join us at one of our many events.
We are very happy to welcome parents and students for individual tours of the school during a normal school day. Visits can be booked through Mrs Morse, our Admissions Officer on 01993 82303. If you would like to visit the Boarding Department or enquire about a boarding place, please contact Mrs Sarah Imms, Operations Manager in the Boarding Department, in the first instance, on 01993 823283.
The Boarding Department has now grown to just over 100 boarders It is an excellent environment in which to take first steps towards independence, whilst still enjoying a warm and secure family atmosphere. With the increasing demand we are receiving for boarding places in every year group, I would encourage you to make an appointment to visit sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. If your child is an accomplished musician, you may want to look into the Music Scholarships we offer boarding students.
