Links with Partnership Schools
Burford Partnership is a group of nine primaries and one secondary school. The committed aim for the partnership is to provide outstanding education for all students aged from 3 – 19 years. To ensure that this vision is realised the partnership Governors, staff and students work together collaboratively. This collaboration includes an extensive primary liaison programme starting with students from Year 1 to planned transition activities which ensure that Year 6 students move seamlessly into Year 7.
Staff from each of the partnership schools meet to co–plan schemes of work, share good practice and develop the curriculum, particularly at transition points. The most able students in Key Stage 2 are welcomed to ‘More Able’ days at Burford Secondary School.
A comprehensive sports calendar enables students in primary schools to take part regularly in a range of sports, benefitting from the facilities and subject knowledge of the secondary school. The popular Sports Leadership courses, taken by students in Year 10 and 12, ensure that primary events are run with professional student helpers.
The Chair and Vice-chair of Governors, along with Headteachers, meet three times during each academic year to discuss current educational strategy and how this may be realised at a local level. Topics for discussion are wide and varied and have included developing a clear understanding of how Raiseonline can be used to inform strategic planning, safer recruitment training and the academy programme.
