The Carnegie Conference 2019

The Carnegie Conference 2019

In addition to our own students, our Library welcomed students from Carterton, Chipping Norton and the Henry Box schools on 18 June for the annual Carnegie Conference.

We had a lovely day with students ranging from Year 7 – Year 10 taking part in quizzes, group presentations of their favourite books and finally voting for the book they most wanted to win.

Following lunch, a live streaming of the national awards ceremony was screened and The Poet X by American-Dominican writer Elizabeth Acevedo, won both the Students’ Choice and the National Judges’ prizes.

Points were awarded throughout the day for presentation, fancy dress, behaviour, team quiz scores, etc, and the winning team was… surprise, surprise ‘The Poet X’ group.  William from 8ECR won the prize for reading all of the shortlisted books in the fastest time, while Sophie from 10CEB won a prize for the best review.
