Boarders live in Lenthall House, a historic building just a short walk from the day school campus. Originally the home of Burford Grammar School, and still retaining much of its historic charm, Lenthall House provides accommodation for boys and girls in two separate boarding houses.
Junior boarders enjoy sharing comfortable, spacious dormitories with their friends, while older pupils are accommodated in smaller shared bedrooms. In the Sixth Form, students move into single or twin study bedrooms, with space to both work and relax. Supervised homework sessions take place in our large prep room, where boarders can access computers, printers and a library to support their academic work. Meanwhile, free time is spent in our cosy common room or outside, playing volleyball in the courtyard and relaxing in the orchard. We also have a well-equipped gym on site.
Breakfast and dinner are eaten together in the refectory, where students and staff enjoy catching up with each other over a home-cooked meal. In addition, boarders have access to a well-equipped kitchen where they can prepare snacks or learn to cook simple meals for themselves.
Our location in the centre of Burford means that boarding pupils can easily explore the local area—enjoying trips to shops and cafés, playing sport with local clubs, and going for walks through the beautiful Cotswold countryside. There are good public transport links from nearby towns such as Witney, Oxford and Cheltenham, along with a regular weekend minibus service to the local train station for trips further afield, with direct trains to Worcester, Hereford and London.
