Sport

Sport plays a key part in life at Burford School and we firmly believe that all students should enjoy a range of sporting experiences but also have the opportunity to excel.

This complements our PE and games programme that exists within the school curriculum.

Through our Athletic Foundation, our students participate in a variety of team and individual sports and we also offer an outstanding programme of specialist coaching for our high-performing sports students.

Throughout the year many of our students are involved in inter-school fixtures across a range of sports, including District, County, Regional and National competitions. Each term a number of inter-house competitions also take place.

The major sports played are:

Term 1 and 2

Boys: Rugby Union

Girls: Hockey

Term 3 and 4

Boys: Football

Girls: Netball

Term 5 and 6

Boys: Cricket

Girls: Cricket and Rounders

In addition to the major sports above, there is the opportunity for girls to play rugby and football and for boys to play hockey during the school year.

Our excellent facilities include a full-sized artificial hockey pitch with floodlights, a sports hall, a gym, tennis courts, cricket nets and an extensive number of well-maintained grass pitches.
