"Going into the Houses of Parliament was a valuable educational experience as well as being interesting to see. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide who was able to pinpoint important buildings and institutions around Whitehall that would usually be overlooked. We ended the trip with going up the tallest building in London, The Shard. This was a fantastic experience and well worth the trip." - Toby, Year 12 Economics student
On Friday, 26 May 2023, Year 12 Economics students spent the day in London to see the key institutions which influence the economy. The morning started with a walking tour of Whitehall to see key departments such as the Treasury and Cabinet Office. They then went to the European Parliament Liaison Office where students completed a workshop on policy issues between the UK and EU post-Brexit. The next stop was a visit to the Palace of Westminster where students took part in a tour and got to see both Chambers debating, before completing a workshop on how laws are passed. Finally, they visited the viewing gallery of the Shard where the clear evening meant they could see for 40 miles.
