On Tuesday 4 July 2023, we held our Lower School Prize Giving at Burford, with the evening representing the culmination of endeavour over the whole year by our Key Stage Three students. We recognised the achievements of our Year 7 to 9 students who particularly excelled this year, with the presentation of subject, tutor and individual awards.
We were delighted to welcome Old Burfordian Courtney Allardice as our guest speaker and award presenter. Courtney graduated in 2016, reading Archaeology at the University of Southampton before undertaking a MSc in Archaeology at UCL. Since 2021, Courtney has worked as a Field Archaeologist for the Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA).
Touching upon her time at Burford and work as an archaeologist, Courtney highlighted the importance of following personal passions, participating in a wide range of activities and, vitally, of working hard on those things that do not necessarily come easily, to students.
Afterwards, Courtney took time to meet as many of our prize winners as possible and listen to their stories.
It was also a pleasure to be treated to superb musical performances from members of our Training Orchestra as well as reflect on another successful year, with Mr Wright, Head of Year 9, delivering the Review of the Year.
