Sixth Form Boarding at Burford School is designed to prepare students for the next stage in their academic journey and personal development. It provides the perfect stepping stone between home life and the independence of young adulthood in the wider world.

Accommodated in single or shared study bedrooms, with dedicated study spaces and a Sixth Form common room, our oldest boarders benefit from a supportive environment while developing their independence. They enjoy a flexible routine and are empowered to manage their own time and take responsibility for themselves.

Our Sixth Form boarders have a reputation for strong academic results and benefit from the structure of dedicating time each evening to their studies, which they complete independently with the support of experienced staff. Once homework is finished, there is time to relax, and many also take on leadership roles as mentors and prefects, supporting younger boarders.Boarders leave Burford not only with excellent qualifications, but also with resilience, character and a deep sense of connection.

At weekends, Sixth Form students may choose to visit friends or family, though many prefer to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities on offer at school. They participate in a rich variety of extra-curricular activities, developing skills that prepare them for life beyond school. Many also successfully apply for part-time jobs in the local area, gaining valuable work experience for the future.

Located just 30 minutes from Oxford and an hour from London, our Sixth Form students benefit from the peace and quiet of living in the countryside, while never being too far from the opportunities of a big city or university open day.
